Need help on financial aid appeal please!?

NEED HELP ON FINANCIAL AID APPEAL PLEASE!?
To Financial Aid Committee:

My name is. My major is Engineering. 2009-2010

First year of college was very challenging to me yet I was still wasn't ready for the courses that I chose. My goal was to obtain an A.A Degree to transfer to a 4 year institute to obtain a B.A Degree. My educational goal was to be majoring in Engineering.

In Fall 2009 I chose courses I have since realized were too difficult for a first-time student and I became overwhelmed. Having had no prior experience with college-level life, courses, and exams. I was not sure what to expect and learned that my study techniques lacking, resulting in poor grades. I also failed to attend the review sessions, did not seek assistance from my professor or tutoring help. I did try to overcome the results of the exams previously by performing better on next exams, but those exams weren’t above average scores, I just thought it would be too difficult to make it all up in time therefore, I withdrew 2 courses that I probably wouldn’t pass. I had 2 courses left that I have to pass. I asked my professor to see if still possible, and said it would be difficult to overcome a passing grade. While studying hard on the finals, I was believing myself that I can perform well on my final exam, but in the end I passed one of the two, and as a result I received a gpa below 2.0.

Due to these circumstances I have been rendered ineligible to receive financial aid. Without financial aid I will be unable to continue my education because I cannot afford the cost of supplies, fees, transportation, and personal expenses. Receiving financial aid will allow me more time to study properly. Without it, I will be forced to take time away from my studies in order to work. My academics are my first priority now and I realize I need to devote all of my time to them in order to be successful in the future.

I recently evaluated my plans to improve my academic. I have determined the following points to be the keys to my educational success.

I will balance the course choices better.

I will manage my time wisely on academics.

I will seek assistance with my coursework when I have difficulties.

I will maintain communication with my professors on a regular basis to ensure success in my courses

Complete classes C or better.

I understand the expectation better now and I am doing well in my coursework this semester with currently all passing grades. I have made a huge improvement and I am determined to pass every class this semester. Although I have made great improvements, without financial aid I fear I will find myself struggling to succeed once again. I hope those of the financial aid committee who read this will give me a second chance to help me accomplish my goals and reach success for the rest of my time at college.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to explain my financial circumstances. I look forward to hearing about your decision.

Sincerely,

I really need help on this to improve this letter so i can get approved. Make suggestions or whatever. Thanks

didn’t you already post this about 5 times? just send it it’s the best damn thing i read (not really but seriously it’s the best you can possibly make it)

YIKES… Your claiming you weren’t ready last time so you want more money. How do I know if you are ready this time? Your committing to a C (or better).

There’s really nothing you can do to “improve” your letter, since your story has already been written by your past actions. Go ahead and send it – but as netthreat said, don’t expect to get any financial aid on a promise to get “C’s or better.” Nearly all colleges require a minimum GPA of 2.0 just to stay “in good academic standing” anyway.

Let’s face it – you blew your opportunity this year because you clearly weren’t ready for the academic challenges of college. I think you need to take a year or two off, get a job, and get serious. Then you can reapply to schools when you can show that you have matured.

You may also want to reconsider your career plans, as engineering is one of the most academically difficult majors.

You’re going to have a tough time for the reasons cited by worried_mom. My advice is to sit down with an academic counselor there and get specific instructions from them under what circumstances they will re-consider. They may suggest attending community college and showing that you are a serious student. C’s don’t cut it. You need to show them that you’ve turned over a new leaf.

I realize this is not the advice you’re hoping for but things will work out for you if you’re really serious about your success.

Im pretty sure students struggle some point in their lives. I struggled first year of college, but im slowly making good progress and determined to do well. Anyways i am serious now about academics or else i would be very worried about my future. I just hope they do give me another chance since i am doing well in spring that is what they are looking for.
