I have always been extremely interested in the functions of the brain and adore helping ppl with their problems and really listening to ppl instead of just waiting for my turn to talk. With that in mind, i've done some research on top psych undergrad programs and neuroscience programs.
They generally go hand in hand.

I'm contemplating between IU bloomington (I'm from Indiana therefore i would apply for instate tuition [but my parents are covering my first 4 years] and they have a top Undergrad Psych program), Cornell, Northwestern, Stanford, Emory, Berkley, Penn, UCLA, Brown, UC, WU st louis.
Any thoughts?

Should I take advantage of having my undergrad years covered and go to a more prestigous school bcos cost isn't a factor and the name would be recognized to help in getting to Grad school or somewhere like IU?

assuming cost is not a factor, definitely apply to those schools… Emory has fantastic psycology programs… top 10 in nation in specific ones… so yes, go ahead and apply!

IU is great for psych and education. You might also think about some LACs. Most have strong pscyhology majors (and a few of us even have neuroscience). Most of all though, they will prep you very very well for grad school. My masters @ Penn State and doctorate @ Memphis were very easy after having earned a bachelors at a LAC.

What about IU for grad school? I don’t know if I will be able to afford out of state tuition to continue an Ivy or big university for a Phd after my first 4 years are covered. And how are the research opportunities with Emory? Emory was one of my schools to visit.

On the same hand, I still need to think about pre-med programs if I continue to psychiatry from psychology. And double threat thoughts that apply here?

If you are looking into neuroscience, I suggest to look into Duke. Duke’s neuroscience department is largely through the med school, and that equals access to one of the best med schools in the world + great professors.
