need help w/ raising SAT I marks!!!

I am registered to take the October SAT, which is in 41 days, and from some of the practice tests I've taken, I'm getting around 1600-1700 range, assuming that my essay would be scored a 8/12. My math average is 600, CR is 500 and WR is 550.

I NEED to raise it to atleast 2000 and if not, I'm going to switch the date to January. But I want to do this as a last resort, b/c there's a fine to be paid if i do. (also, could you tell me how many days/weeks earlier than the registered test date i have the lesisure to change the date online?)

Could you advise on how I could raise the mark by 400 points w/in the 40 days AND how I could raise it in the long term study of now 'till January (4 months)?***

Thanks a lot in advance everyone!!!

300 points in 41 days? That’s tough.
For short-time I would practice a section everyday(especially the one that have lower points)
For long-term, read Xiggi’s method, and all that CC forums offers (They are extremely useful)
If you have any questions while practicing, come to CC and post them. 2400ers would help you.

Good luck

Well, for CR, you need to be a vocab god. Find SAT vocab lists online and choose the best ones. Then, pick up a good magazine like The Economist, Businessweek etc. and read through them… make sure you understand what the articles are talking about. Also, solve as many practice tests as you can… These tips, if followed, could give you a 50-200 point jump on the CR section alone.

For Writing, I would recommend that you start SPEAKING while trying to avoid grammatical mistakes… then solve some practice tests and see what you got wrong and WHY.

For math, you just need to practice practice practice.

If you’re a junior, then there really isn’t a valid reason why you should rush taking the SATs. Just wait until you are ready. Good luck.
