I'm writing a college admissions essay and I am stuck on this:
"when the idea dawned upon me like"
I can't think of any similies on how to finish this. Does anyone want to give me some ideas?
Thanks :)
And I'll also need people to read and critique/destroy it when I am finished.

Not sure what you mean, exactly. A simile on how to finish what, exactly? I’ll critique your essay when you’re done, PM.

In my essay, I’m talking about how an idea dawned on me. So Im trying to write that it dawned on me like mildew on a kitchen tile. lol Idk something like that.

Eh, I’d just go with "When the idea dawned on me: " or maybe "When the idea struck me: "

It was right in front of me as the nose on my face…or…It was my ah-ha moment…

For your simile, what are getting at: that it was obvious (the nose on your face)…but, of course! Or do you mean to say it suddenly occurred to you that indeed you should have done that (like I shoulda had a V-8) or I should have known this all along.

lima- Im trying to say that the idea came out of nowhere.

Don’t make the writing in your application to flowery, you shouldn’t be filling the essay with similes. Just say the idea dawned on you, that’s all you need.
