Need help with my FAFSA appeal

Hello. I’ve recently enrolled in a community college after a five year break from school hoping to get back in and start finishing my AA. I was informed I was on academic probation from a sister school I attended and filled out the information to to reinstate it which got approved. My community college emailed me stating I got rewarded for Pell Grant which paid my classes and I signed up to get the prepaid card for the remainder. A month has gone by and I never received it after being in contact with the financial aid office i figured I had to wait 30 days since this is my FIRST time receiving it. Today I went in and they informed me that even though I haven’t gone in five years and I paid out of pocket that I still had to show proof of what went wrong five years ago to get the remainder fafsa. I have already went from working full time to part time because I was under the impression I was being rewarded. Back in 2013 I did have a really bad miscarriage which is why I ended up dropping my classes and was also working full time. Does anybody have any suggestions? And does anyone think I even have a chance at the appeal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
