I am an NYU early decision. I don't know if I'll get in but I will not bore you with stats cause I know I never read them. Anyway, I am gearing up for more applications, I sent my second one today. I have a great idea for an admissions essay that could be immensly controversial.....it will either make my chances or break them, one of both. I decided not to do it for NYU because I was literally frightened to do so. This is not my actual essay (again trying not to bore you) but the general idea for it.

Since I know colleges look at how I took advantage of all opportunities blah blah blah, I was forced to enroll in my High School full Higher Level IB Diploma Course....which meant I had to get the Mathematics Higher Level certificate...I am one of those students who gets all As on courses like history and literature and al Cs on Mathematics, Statistics and all that stuff. I am terrible at math. The certificate required a 10,000 word project with all Statistics and Probability procedures used to research a subject, any subject. I was affraid I was going to fail. Long story short, I used what I knew best (my writing skills and creativity), and invented the entire project. The calculations were real, but the subject was a complete nonsense and the data recovered was all false.....and you know what happened? My project was named the best in my High School History and I recieved the highest grade of my High School Class.....me, the stupidest mathematician on earth. (And I was up against some korean geniuses, and then some average straight A ones as well)

I guess an essay on this experience would talk a lot about my writing skills and creativity (which has a lot to do with my intended major, which is not math related btw) but it doesn't say too much about my ethical standards. I invented the whole thing! Should I write an essay on this? Or should I stick to what only shows the good sides of my personality? Anyone?
