I'm currently deciding between two ideas for my college essay

First idea:
How music opened the world of art and culture to me and taught me to appreciate the beauty of humans and life

Second idea:
How rowing taught me the world isn't fair and that dedication is the only way to achieve, since I'm very short and honestly fairly poor, so had to work harder than everyone else and pay for much of it myself on a team of rich kids

Thanks for your input!

ooh, i really like the second topic. a topic with a more definable beginning-middle-end is always easier to write and read.

I think the second topic would work very nicely. I myself don’t see much of a connection between rowing and fairness, so if you could explain that in your essay I believe it would make a really great and interesting essay!

thanks guys i think im gonna go with the second. although the first might be more about myself, i feel like the 2nd will be easier to write and make more sense to admission people haha

If you want to major in art or music in college I would say the first one, if not go with second.

Remember, though, that while hard work is valued, they aren’t looking for grinds. Be careful to avoid the “all things are possible through hard work alone!” mentality.
