Need serious advice

Hey guys!

I am currently going to a community college in FL. I ONLY applied to UMiami (dumb of me) and got admitted for the fall, but I applied after the scholarship consideration deadline, so no scholarships for me. Right now I dont know what to do, and I dont know if its worth it to get into so much debt..I was thinking about taking classes this fall at the community college and then reapplying to UMiami and OTHER universities to transfer fall 2011. The problem is that after the fall 2010 I will have earned my AA degree and will have more than 60 credits..so I wont be doing anything for spring 2011...summer 2011..but waiting for the admission decisions...is that going to hurt my application? (I was thinking of volunteering/getting a job during that period).

Any input is really appreciated!

You can apply for the Spring '11 semester.

No, it won’t hurt your application.

Lots of people finish their AA or AS and work for a while before they apply for transfer. Just be sure to stay in touch with the people who are writing letters of recommendation for you so that they remember who you are!

You can alway say you were taking some time off, o better yet, find a full-time job related to your future career and get experience ahead!

Depending on the debt, I really don’t think it is worth it, unless UMiami is the school of your dreams and you wouldn’t imagine yourself being anywhere else.

If I apply for the spring '11 I dont think I’ll be considered for scholarships or aid.

Oh, that sounds great, I’ll try to stay in touch with my professors.

You are right, I was considering UMiami because it is close to my house and they have a good medical school, but then again it is really expensive without scholarships. I just hope they accept me when I reapply and receive some scholarships heh.

Thank you all.

Yeah Spring aid is done on a “funds available basis.”
Youre probably better off working/ interning during that time.
