Need some advice on transferring

I have recently left the college I was at due to many reasons I won't go into on here. This last spring I injured my arm pretty badly and my teachers were nice enough to give me incomplete grades since I had to stay over for the first part of summer and finish my work study. However, despite doing all the work, only one of my Professors actually stayed in contact with me and I was able to both turn everything in and do my final.

The problem however is that the other 3 teachers despite e-mailing them and trying to get into contact with them to turn things in before I had to withdrawl to not be charged for the fall, ended up more or less vanishing and I ended up with 1 C, and 3 F's. This killed my GPA. It dropped my cumulative down to I believe anyhow a 1.92 or 1.94. That's terrible. Now, I'm trying to figure out what my best options are because of this. Right now, I'm looking at taking classes at a community college but how many classes will I need to have a passable GPA ? I also need to take Finances into consideration as I am 29 and pay for everything myself.

As of now I have only used 283% of my PELL eligibility, $1,459 in PERKINS loans, and my total for the Stafford loans are as follows: Unsubsidized: $15,183, and Subsidized: $9,812. What I'm trying to figure out is how much time do I have left to work with and what my budget is for looking at a school to transfer to. The two I am looking at are Humboldt State in California and West Virgnia University, I already talked to WVU so I know where I stand there but what are my options? I literally have no one to help me pla, budget, or anything for school. So, any help here is greatly appreciated and I understand how bad of a situation I am in which is why I am so stressed right now.

If you were injured last spring and unable to finish your work then you probably should have gone to see the Dean to see about having the classes dropped instead of taking incompletes. I suggest you contact the Dean at this point to see if anything can be done about your grades; can they be expunged?

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned too part of the problem is my old college has absolutely no attendance policy, they let each individual teacher choose how they deal with attendance. When I injured my arm I was going to drop but, it was too far into the semester and would have counted against me. I’m actually going to be getting a hold of the school this week to see what if anything can be done, but to be honest I’m doubtful at this point.

Good news. I contacted the school and apparently my GPA didn’t drop as bad as I thought. It’s s 2.153. Which is low but, it is high enough to get into schools. Plus I have multiple letters of recommendation. I just to pay off my old school first and then I am good to go. Thanks for the suggestion.

glad to hear its going to work out!
