Need some insights from current students/alums for my college decision!

Hello, everyone

Now that almost all the decisions are out, I’m having trouble deciding where to go for cinema studies major.
I did apply for Cinema Studies but would prefer a school where I can have a lot of production experiences/can transfer to a production major as my final goal is to be a film director.
Can any alums/students recommend me a school where I can have both studies&production experiences+good job/internship opportunities in the industry?
(Coming from a different country and having no teachers/family members related to film, it’s really difficult to know which school’s the right fit for me…)

Some schools I got accepted to are:
NYU Tisch
USC SCA
UCSD Visual Arts-Media (&Warren College)
Wesleyan
Vanderbilt
Emory
Amherst

I’m leaning toward NYU, USC, or Amherst since those are the schools offering me some financial aid.

I would appreciate any insight available.
Thank you!

That’s an impressive list! Congratulations! Of the schools here, I know that NYU and USC have immediate recognition. USC SCA is probably the hardest to get into in the country, and being right there in the belly of the film industry has a huge plus. Vanderbilt has one of the lowest admit rates in the county, so very impressive again. But, even though I had 2 daughters graduate from there, I had no idea they had a film program until now. So I feel like that says something? Now, I live in the area, and I can tell you that Nashville is booming with filming industry now, so that might be a good move? Middle Tennessee is a great place to live, but it is NOT the big city like LA or NYC. My youngest is in school in NYC and she LOVES the city life! For me, looking at this list, I’d rank it USC, NYU, UCSD.

@moonpie Thank you very much for your insight! Will take it into account

@OnMelancholyhill

Congratulations again! This is a great list of schools.

Since you’re looking for production, hard to argue against SCA - even if you were admitted to CMS. As we’ve already discussed, you’ll have to the opportunity to take many production courses. Your biggest benefits at USC will be the highest caliber of the program and the ability to work and build relationships with like-minded peers that will likely lead the industry.
