Need some safeties/matches in California

If you do not get in to the UC of your choice, go to Santa Barbara City College. Live in college housing in Isla Vista with the UCSB kids and don't skip a minute of "college life" the first two years. CC transfers get top priority at UC. Good luck.

UCSD, UCI, UCD...i think you have a good chance in getting into one!!

your SATs are better than mine by at least 600 points, and your GPA too
and those are the schools im applying to also

UCSD is likely gonna be out of your range applying out of state, but i'd still give it and UCLA a shot, as both of them are not likely, but you never know. However, UCI/UCSB/UCD should be a match out of state. Consider SDSU if you want to be in San Diego. I did my undergrad at UCSD and I consider San Diego to be the best city I have ever been too. I just love the city! Best of luck!

PS... the california cc route is also a very attractive option as others have said if you want to attend UCSD, UCLA, or UC Berkeley, which all seem to be just outside of your reach of admission right now. Nothing wrong with it in my book as long as you stay focused and get good grades.

I think Bessie is spot on. I know lots of students at Santa Barbara City College and they love it. Transfer to UCs is easy and they have the option of being in UCSB housing.
I honestly don't think the OP will get into Cal Poly SLO and I don't think it would be a great fit for her.
SDSU yes. UCI is possible.

Although Freshman grades are not calculated into a UC or CSU GPA,
thay are taken into consideration,
particularly if they were second semester grades.
Make sure that you remediate ANY D's or F's (take them again for credit) before you begin your senior year.

Other schools that you might want to consider are Chapman, USD, LMU, Mount St. Mary's (if you're female), Dominican Univiversity, USF and San Francisco State.
