I’ve been accepted to both cal poly slo and SDSU for business/economics but I’m having trouble deciding where to go. I really love the SDSU campus and I think I would have more of a typical university experience at SDSU (parties, bigger city, semester schedule) but I’m concerned I would be choosing the wrong school since CP SLO is typically regarded as a more prestigious school. I also like the SLO campus, but the buildings are very run down and old and dorms are not as nice as SDSU. Anything you could tell me about the campuses, parties/police involvement, the type of people at each school, study abroad programs (if you’re familiar with them), surrounding area, typical college experience, and most importantly how their business programs compare in general as well as in terms of internships and job opportunities. Also please let me know anything you know about which school has more connections, which is better for just undergrad (no grad school), and reallt anything else you think could help me compare the two schools and decide. I basically have to decide by this Friday so thanks in advance for all your insight and help!
look - five/ten years from now, you won’t have to apologize for attending either. Flip a coin and you won’t be wrong.
They both offer very good education and have solid reputations among employers. There are parties at both schools. SLO will probably provide a more ‘college town’ experience than SDSU. I wouldn’t let how ‘nice’ the dorms are influence your decision. You won’t spend as much time in your room as you think - and you won;t live there for more than a year. I would encourage you to visit both campuses again. Talk to current students about their experience - spend a half day, eat a meal or two on campus. I bet you’ll have a favorite… and I bet you will be right.
I have a daughter at SLO in Engineering and my son will enter the Business School at SDSU this fall. You can’t go wrong either place. SLO is a bit more highly ranked, but alumni network for business is probably better at SDSU. Food is better at SDSU!
