Need to decide

hey guys,

Im trying to decide whether i need my video ipod for ucla or should i trade it for a PSP? are ipods REALLY necessary in college?

or will a laptop solve all of the problems???

Thanks alot!!!

Neither is necessary! Keep your video iPod though... you won't get bored of it.

i heard that ipods are really useful esp if youre studying and dont want to be distracted

but music while im studying has never been my thing...

and hip hop does not help the matter

iPods aren't necessary for anything.

I depend on my iPod for studying (since music while i'm studying is my thing :P)

But yeah... I don't see how you'll have a lot of time to play with your PSP anyways. Keep the iPod :D

i dont know if i could have made it through college without my ipod.

i mean, i COULD have, but i wouldn't have wanted to.

alright guys, thanks alot!!!

how do you expect to ignore all the crazy people on bruinwalk without an ipod.

PRETTY MUCH.

seriously.

sooo im considering buying a video ipod. 30 GB or 80GB?

i believe thirty can hold 7500 songs while 80 can hold 20000. i love love love music so decision is really tearing me apart. haha i want 80GB just to have that option but all the extra space might end up being a waste. any comments?!

you will never use 80 gb. get the 30.

you might as well get the 80 gb though, because it's only a little more.

yea ipod :D
and yea if its only a little bit more, get the 80gb... you could use the extra storage for videos/movies, since those take up more space ( i mean it is a VIDEO ipod ;] ). i dont have an ipod atm, but they are hard drives, and i think they can store random files as well... so you could use the extra space as a storage device.

I recommend getting a MP3 player but not apple. They break very easily and lets say you didn't back up your music so that when it breaks it's just a pain because you lost XXGig's amount. If you could deal with it's faultiness though it is good for external HDD use.

Really, you should invest the money into a nice laptop to last you 4+years, I think that's the most vital tool for college.

just my two cents though

cheers

anyone got good recommendations for a non-ipod mp3 player?

once i get a few paychecks under my belt i'm looking to replace my antiquated ipod mini. I WANT BATTERY LIFE DAMMIT! lol. oh, and i DETEST itunes. i want to buy music online and have it be mine outright, like what (i think?) EMI will do.

so sad how only 3.5 years is lightyears when it comes to technology...

I suggest you guys all go out and buy a nice tape player, and get some rechargeable AA batteries along with that. If you think about it, you can make mixed tapes, which can be just like a playlist on an MP3 player. You can have a tape playlist for things like "working out" and "studying" Plus, you make your own music by putting a microphone to many tape decks and hitting the record button, and you can listen to yourself singing on your tape player, while studying. This used to work out well. Plus you can get a name brand tape player for $2-$3 (depending where you go), or many people just give them away (hahaha suckers)

Oh and I keep an ancient January 2005 purchase date mp3 player (which broke down but the warranty covered for 2 years I think, so I got a newer better one), 6 GB mini mp3 player. Not that I use it that often though...

You might want to look into a Zune, I've sort of been wanting one, it plays music and videos, displays images, receives FM radio, and shares files wirelessly with other Zunes. 13-14 hours music, 4 hours video. 30 gb, $200-250. Not sure about actual performance though, but it sounds cool.

Here's more details, <a href="http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/zune-30gb-black/4505-6490_7-32068976.html?tag=prod.txt.1%5B/url%5D">http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/zune-30gb-black/4505-6490_7-32068976.html?tag=prod.txt.1</a></p>

@ UCLAYAY, ah, a tape player? That seems like a lot of work. Sure it's cheap, but is it really worth it to have to carry around something that bulky that'll only play a few songs which you can't choose at will easily and has no other features? I think I'd die without my ipod.

just get an ipod. ipods have amazing games available too lol.

ipod is awesome for college.....psp is not
