I was thinking of taking my second try at SAT (didn't do as well as I wanted. Got a 1330/1950 when I wanted a 1450/2100 that I know I am capable of) but I also need SAT II's for my reach schools. (A few Ivies and top schools)

I wanted my second SAT in October so I could have the scores early enough to apply EA/ED at my matches to maximize my chances for big merit scholarships (finances is kind of an issue), but I'm not aware of the ivies/top schools normal decision application deadlines and I don't want my November scores coming out too late and I can't apply.

And if you wonder why I not just Google this information about the schools, the answer is that my reaches list keeps changing and I haven't decided on them yet, so I want a general idea.

Are normal decisions for top schools in December? I heard top schools have earlier normal decisions than lower schools.

The ivies that have EA or ED take Nov Sat IIs but suggest that, in order to assure they arrive on time, you list the colleges as score recipients as part of applying for the test and thus don’t wait until after the score comes out to order a send. Schools with EA and ED mostly have a mid-December date for issuing decisions for EA or ED and that includes ivies and other top schools. Also understand that if you are applying for EA or ED, you can apply to only one Ivy when doing so. The reason. Yale has EA but prohibits you from applying ED or EA elsewhere; Harvard and Princeton have no early program, the rest of the ivies have only ED and you can apply to only one college ED. Thus, you can either apply to Yale for EA or one of the other ivies for ED but you cannot possibly apply to two ivies for an early determination. As far as “regular” (not early) applications and decisons go, those don’t issue decisons until end of March/Early April.

^ Thanks.

I wasn’t planning on applying to my reaches EA/ED since a lot of them tend to be binding, and I don’t want to be stuck on a college without knowing I can pay for it. It was the reaches that I have a good chance at merit aid for that I would, and I will triple check they aren’t binding. (My EFC is unrealistic)

EA is non-binding, ED is binding. If you are just asking the latest date by when you need to take SAT IIs if you are applying “regular” decison rather than early decison or early action to your reach schools, the answer is December test date and for some even January.
