Well My SATs were not great but my ACT was decent at a 31. I'm sending the ACT only. However, the school's website says that they require two SAT IIs. If I send in the ACT only, do I still need to send my SAT IIs(Which would consequently send my SAT Is as well?) It's probably too late unless I rush report(which I've heard they don't do anyways), but does anyone know if SAT IIs are absolutely necessary? I am applying to the engineering school.

Does the application say SAT or ACT and 2 SATIIs? How is it worded exactly?

IIRC, They don't require SAT IIs. ACT only should be fine.

SAT IIs are used for placement. Theoretically that means they shouldn't affect your admission but I don't really know if that's the case.

Ok, great.

Another question:

My SAT Scores are:
Math: 710
CR:590
Writing:610

SAT II:
Math IIC: 640
Chem: 770

Is it worth it to send those? My math and chem are decent, but my Math IIC is awful and I feel that it would take away from my chance of getting in. My ACT on the other hand is above the average score for acceptance from my school. Should I just stick with ACT?

"However, the school's website says that they require two SAT IIs"--Are you referring to the school of engineering? The reason I ask this, is that I think the official admissions site for UVA says that the SAT II's are recommended (not mandatory), but I don't know if that applies to the engineering school.
I think your ACT is indeed decent. Your CR is low, but sort of balanced out by your other SAT scores. Your SAT II's are quite decent, and the word on the street is that anything over 600 should be sent to schools. Your 770 in chem. is outstanding!! As you no doubt know, the Math IIC is a hard test to take and all the pre-engineering students take it. I think you should be proud of your score.
Dean J has said on previous posts that when they receive ACT and SAT scores, they will look at whichever is higher.
So, I say send them all. You may think you have a problem with your scores, but I don't.

Okay I guess I will send them. Lets hope the math doesn't kill me! Do most schools only look at the highest score?

I agree, with other postings, most schools only look at the highest score. I think your scores are good. Really, I do. Sometimes Dean J will respond to a direct question if you start your thread with "Dean J what should I do?"--something like that. But she has answered this over and over again. Have you checked out her blog? Just search under UVA admissions blog and Dean J.

This was worth the google.

My brother: Don't worry, 49th percentile isn't so bad in a self-selected pool of test takers.
I know I'm gonna get chewed out for this post... But it's soooo worth it.
