Hello. Well last spring, I got into some trouble at my school (top 10), and had to take a leave of absence. I'm thinking about returning to college now, but not sure if I should try to transfer. My disciplinary hearing is scheduled in a few months, so my record is perfectly clean 'till then. Is it possible that I can transfer to another decent school in the next few months? I see that a lot of schools require 2 semesters of credits to be considered for a transfer, but I only have one under my belt. Also my GPA is a 3.5, due to what happened during the spring. Thanks for input.

If you apply using the common app the dean’s report asks if you are a student in good standing (and welcome to return to the institution).

If you got an F due to academic dishonesty, then it would be very difficult/ impossible to transfer to a peer institution. Even if your grades weren’t quite that low, it would be hard to come up for an academic reason to transfer from another top 10 school.

Many schools accept spring transfers, but you’d have to find out which ones will accept you with the number of credits you have.
