Don’t do anything for awhile; obviously you don’t owe anything for the 8/20 due date. Financial aid will likely adjust everything to show a 0 balance…unless you have actually paid money for something, you won’t get a refund. It’s not unusual for adjustments to be made to your account for the next 2-3 weeks, at least.

That’s not necessarily true. I regularly received financial aid refunds and was even able to set up a direct deposit into my back account (this only works for FA negative balances). I believe they’ll probably send you a letter in the mail about it. If you want to find out about it sooner, you can probably go visit the Lee building and talk to someone there.

Wait, I had financial aid to put me into the negatives but they recently just changed it so I have a zero balance? Does this mean I can’t get it back? That money could be helpful for books and other things…

^ do you have an entry such as:

201108 08/19/2011 FIN AID REF $x,xxx.00

at the bottom of your Student Account Inquiry? If so, then a check for the amount is in the mail. :)

The COA generally includes expenses that are not direct charges from the school. FA awarded for these expenses will be paid to the student once all direct charges have been covered. My daughter always gets a “refund” of any aid in excess of direct costs to the school. (in her case she lives off campus so all the part of her aid related to room and board is paid to her and she uses it for rent, food etc).

@plumazul: Ah I understand now. But there’s also another line that is listed as the name of my aid and instead of “Credit” it lists it as a “Charge.” (it’s a portion of my total aid) Any ideas on why this might be?

P.S. I wasn’t charged for Orientation for some reason…?

Thanks!
