ok so i'm a texas resident but i'm a freshman at LSU. my dad is sick of paying out of state fees so he wants this to be my last year LSU.
bad news...
i sucked my first semester!!! i got swine flu and got c's in three of my classes because i couldn't perform to the best of my ability (swine flu sucks!!).
my major is biology.
GPA 2.5
one letter of rec for note taking for disabilities

i'm planning on busting my butt this semester, but if i get a 4.0 this spring semester my final GPA will be a 3.2
i know i can do better i just wish i hadn't gotten sick!!!!
btw does the second semester grades count? (i hope so)
and also does summer classes count? ( i doubt it, just in case i plan on retaking some classes)
anyways i plan on getting another letter of rec this spring semester for note taking.

so what are my chances of getting into the college of natural sciences at UT-Austin?

thanks for the help, and sorry for the long note.

Second semester does count, but I don’t know if a 3.2 is high enough.

If you don’t get in for fall, could you go to Austin CC (and maybe take one or more extension classes at UT) in the fall and try for spring 2011 transfer admissions?

I want to apply as a transfer and my current gpa is 3.169 in UCLA(we have a quarter system), and I’m out of state…i’ll be apply to engineering and/or natural sciences. What are my chances :/

You would probably have about the same chance of admission for liberal arts and natural sciences, unless, perhaps, you have awards or experiences that would make you look particularly good during a holistic review for admission to natural sciences.

For an incoming freshman, the geosciences school is a bit easier to get into. That is, the stats for a geosciences major applying to geosciences can be a bit lower than those for an English major applying for liberal arts and or a chem major applying for natural sciences.

Maybe that holds true for a transfer too. (I have no idea.)

I’m not saying to apply to geosciences if you have no interest in geosciences.

I have a question as well, I am attending a community college and I am trying to transfer to UT i have a 3.5 gpa are my chances good? I am going into natural science
and if there is anybody who Transferred to the University of Texas what was your gpa?

I talked to an admissions couselor today and they said there is no spoken guaranteed admissions but you basically need a 3.5 to even be competitive for any program/school at UT.
