Neurobiology, physiology, and behavior major?

I’m going to uc Davis for the NPB major in the fall because that was the closest thing to exercise biology, which is what I wanted to do. I was reading online about it and it said that due to cuts or something it is suspended for this year, and they put exercise biology with another major to create the NPB major. Is this true? Can I still have a career in fitness if I take this major? And it said it’s suspended for a year at most. So does that mean it will come back and I can switch to it my sophomore year?

No, the NPB major has always existed. What they probably mean is that they put Exercise Biology in the same department as NPB. The NPB major has NOT been suspended. If you look at [this page](http://catalog.ucdavis.edu/programs/npb/npbcourses.html), you’ll see course listings for the Exercise Bio major and the NPB major. EXB 101 (exercise physiology) is not the same as NPB 101 (systemic physiology); in fact, NPB 101 is a prerequisite for EXB 101.

I didn’t mean the NPB was suspended, I meant the exercise biology major is suspended, which was my ideal major. And it said it’s suspended for a year, so will I be able to switch to it if and when it comes back?

You’re going to have to submit a change of major petition if it comes back, but yes, you can switch to it if it becomes available.

I guess my main concern was, can you do the same things, (career wise) with a NPB degree as you can with an Exercise Biology degree, ( just incase it doesn’t come back)

Sure you can. Physiology is important to understanding how the human body works, and to have a career in fitness, you need to know how the human body functions. And again, you can take EXB classes–the major may have been suspended, but I don’t think the classes have been.

Yeah, just enter as NPB and if EXB returns then you can switch into it. EXB was always under the NPB department.

I do not think that they will close the EXB major, they’re just looking for ways to improve it because there are hardly any EXB faculty. If it does go away, there will still be options (ie NPB major with emphasis in exercise)
