Neurobiology!

I am having a very difficult time searching for schools. I'm going to apply to the UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON for my safety. I REALLY DON'T CARE about the size of school I go to and I'm afraid if I go to a LAC, I'll run out of classes to take or I'll get bored since I have a decent background already and have already studied a few textbooks, familiar with pop neuro sci (e.g. memory pills), and some research (though I'm not quite yet ready to specialize!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I have a high 3.8 and maxed opps at my school. I've shown a great deal of initiative for community service projects at school. I have leadership positions and am currently involved in re-shaping my school's curriculum and departments. I also do a lot of mentoring work and have been a varsity x-country since freshman year. I'm also currently organizing the Brain Bee (--> Int'l Brain Bee) in my city and the USABO exam at my school. My SAT is in the mid-high 600's and I'm re-taking later.

Can someone please help?

*ALSO PLEASE suggest another safety for me because I don't want to take the bus everyday to school for four years! :( (That is, I'll live at home... near the busstop that'll take me to the university everday.)

LAC's won't bore you. They are some of the msot challenging and stimulating institutitions in the country.

For safeties, consider UC San Diego and UC Irvine. Other good neurobiology programs include:
Amherst
Brandeis
Brown
Davidson (concentration in biology)
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern
Pitzer
Tulane
U Chicago (concentration in biology)
UCLA

No UC school is a safety if you're OOS. UCSD is a reach for most qualified in-state applications and Irvine isn't that far behind.

True...Skidmore would probably be a better safety.

An aquaintance is a neuropsych professor at the university of washington
His undergrad work was at Reed college in biology and he said Reed made medical school easy-
many LACS are very strong in sciences.
but can you transfer to another high school? I know that Seattle CC classes don't always work but AP courses and IB should be more challenging for you.
Also if you are really frustrated with the academic offerings at your school please email Steve Wison the chief academic officer in Seattle public schools. He may not always act on information, but I do get responses from him, and he does want to hear from students
