[Neuroscience Physiology] UCD vs UCSD

UCD - Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior
UCSD the major I applied for was Neuroscience and Physiology

I got accepted into UCD and wait-listed for UCSD and have researched both of their undergraduate programs and found them to be almost parallel to each other. Obviously if I do not get into UCSD I will go to UCD but I want to keep an open mind about both of the colleges.

In the beginning UCSD was my top choice and Davis was my lowest choice. I complained that Davis was in the middle of nowhere, hella hot with NO beaches (unlike San Diego), and the smell of cows. But "the universe" has been telling me to give Davis a chance. For one, I recently got accepted to an internship at UCD this summer, and rejected to the 5 others I applied for. I've always set my eyes on major first, financial aid, then location, location, location!

UCSD and UCD have about the same offers in Financial Aid, I have a sister who lives in San Diego so my living costs would be cheaper than average but I also have a friend who lives in Sacramento/Davis area AND the cost of living there is super cheap. So they both cancel each other out in terms of housing.

Well, the majors are the same (damn near), the financial aids are the same, and well..the locations are complete opposite! I can't seem to make a decision based on visiting the campuses and researching their programs.

Any thoughts, opinions, or experiences you guys would like to share?

BUMP! =D

10char lol
Still having a tough decision!

Go with Davis. San Diego is a better location but, they haven’t accepted you yet and you need to make plans for life at college (orientation, apartment, etc).

A bird in the hand…

San diego’s program is much more robust, SD is surrounded by a ton of high profile biotech where internships and job opportunities abound. The program is well respected and one of their best. I think if you get into UCSD then that would be the better choice, because the location (no, not just the beaches) is ideal for a neuroscience major. The professors are also really intelligent, and there are tons of lab opportunities. Otherwise, I’m sure you’ll be happy with Davis

Thanks guys! I got into UCSD and I have revoked my SIR to UCD and have sent it to UCSD!
I’ve been reading about the Revelle GE requirements but a lot of it has to do with Freshman and Sophomores completing them. For transfer students, do some IGETC courses transfer over and cover those Revelle GEs?

Congrats man, I got in for physio and neuro off the waiting list and rescinded my SIR to UCI a couple weeks ago. As for GE’s IGETC will account for most of them it looks like, the only transfers who are completely off the hook are those in Marshall.
