So, I got accepted into UC Davis as a Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior major, into UCSD (Eleanor Roosevelt college) as a Physiology and Neuroscience major, and into Irvine as a Biological Sciences major.

This may be the greatest problem ever, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO GO.

All three schools are great, but I don't really know which one is right for me. I am going to try to visit them, but I am not sure if I will be able to, or if the visits will give me an accurate idea of what going to classes at the campuses will be like.

Any insights into these schools? How are the campuses? How stressful are the classes? How are the people? How much free time/fun do the students have? (parties aren't really my idea of fun, so no need to worry about San Diego/Davis not having too many parties). Do you feel like the majority of students are HAPPY at their respective school?

Feel free to answer just one of these questions, or to just tell me something about the schools that I didn't ask. I just appreciate any information anyone can give...

Hey! So I can only answer about UCSD since I go here (and I think the only good opinions you’ll get are from people that actually attend the schools). I am just going to start by saying that I freaking LOVE it here. Our campus is beautiful and always picturesque whether it be sunny with blue skies (as it usually is) or Giesel, the forest, or other parts of campus poking out through fog (when the fog comes… the campus looks seriously awesome lol). Also, the location CANNOT be beat.

The people are really nice and friendly. I live in the village and people always start random convos in the elevator (in the towers of course). It’s also really easy to make friends with people in your classes if you talk to them first. They are really nice they just need some prodding to come out of their shell sometimes. Greek life is also a great way to meet people. The wonderful part of attending a school for intelligent people is that there are a lot of intelligent greeks. I know at least some sororities really focus on the reasons why they were created (growth as a person and lifelong friendships) rather than partying and the stereotypical things shallow things. (I think some frats are also like this but I cant say for sure.) But yeah, that may also be an option for you.

In terms of free time it varries wildly. I’m an engineering major and still have enough free time to participate in greek life and some clubs. My roommate is a sociology major and seems to never do anything but party and work, and still manages to stay above 3.0 lol

I havent asked them directly but from what I can tell most of my friends are happy here. I know I love it.

~Random Things You Might Enjoy Knowing~
We are across the street from a beach (so being in ERC is lucky in terms of closeness to it).
We are one of the best schools in the country for surfing and offer discounted classes on it to students, so its super easy to pick up (as well as many other sports as seen here [recreation.ucsd.edu[/url] ).
We are also super close to all kinds of hiking trails!
Walking around campus you sometimes overhear people having really intelligent conversations you dont fully understand but it makes you feel smart just listening to it. Or you’ll overhear people talking about a company they are starting (this one makes me really proud when I hear them!)
We also have this thing called Outback Adventures which I really love (can also be found at the ucsd rec link).
IDK much about your major but in the Science and Engineering classes I’ve had, the professors really cared about getting to know the students (informally) and really wanted them to succeed in their classes.
We have one of the best acting schools in the country! This shocked me and is totally random, but it makes me proud. The dad in Fresh Prince is an Alum and gives a scholarship to one acting student a year.

Ok I think I’m going to stop there. I really love my school and could seriously make a list for DAYYYYSSS on everything I love about it. haha Anyway, happy hunting and good luck deciding on a school. Really hope I said at least one thing that helped <3
