My S just a letter saying he is offered a scholarship. Is this different than WUE?

MOM Looks to me like this is separate from WUE. Looks like ASU regards WUE as a “tuition reduction program” which, as you know, only applies to certain majors at certain campuses.

https://students.asu.edu/admission/wue

On the other hand, the New American scholarships are independent of major/campus and can be estimated here:

https://students.asu.edu/scholarships/estimator

I did try this estimator with and without using a WUE eligible state and got the same response. But there is also no box to indicate program and campus so it wouldn’t know about WUE eligibility anyway.

If they are separate, you still need to find out if they will stack. I don’t know about ASU, but I do know of at least one other WUE school which would not let a student have both their Presidential scholarship and the WUE. In that case, they were given the choice and the WUE was actually a better deal. Course, the decision was easy for them because nearly every major at that school is WUE eligible.

Hello StemFamily,

That is good news about WUE and NAS-- I have twins and the other child did not recieve anything yet. They should make it easier…to pay for college.

My D is leaning strongly toward ASU also but she will be on the Tempe campus. She also received a New American scholarship (the estimator was right on) but she is (or should I say we as her bill-footing parents are) very fortunate she is a NM Finalist so the lack of WUE on the Tempe campus is a moot point for us.

She is doing an overnight in a couple weeks. I’m guessing she’ll come back even more excited about ASU.

Hello both of my boys are leaning towards ASU… One will be at West and the other at Poly. Both have a WUE major. I would not let them go unless they had a WUE major. It worked out for both of them. Still waiting to hear from the other schools now.
