Weight gain is based on two changes -
Changes in Intake

  • greater portion sizes
  • greater intake of processed/refined foods
    Changes in Energy expenditure
  • less organized physical activity
  • less physical activity as a means of killing time
  • less physical activity as a means of transportation and working

I don’t find the article surprising at all. As you get older you do tend to put on more weight. 'tis the nature of transitioning from a young, energetic person with free time to a person who has to do the 9-5, has bills and a family to worry about, etc.

What should be done? They ought to promote more fun exercise things. I know I should exercise but it’s pretty hard for me to get off my ass and hit the gym, simply because I don’t really enjoy sitting on a bike for half an hour and lifting weights repeatedly. I prefer playing a sport like tennis.
