New Automatic Merit Scholarships for U of Alabama

Ok I sent my transcript, act, applied online, did the scholarship application. I have the honors college application done but do I submit that now or later?

As a (third generation!) graduate of UA (but my graduation roughly coincided with the rise of the dinosaurs), I am so happy to see that efforts are being made to attract more of the best and brightest students. My oldest son (who teaches HS senior english) says that UA is a school that many of his students are looking at and liking. He also attended UA for two years (had a music scholarship that covered OOS tuition), but transferred to UGA to get is English Ed. undergrad degree.

I can personally attest to the fact that the UA campus is fantastic and beautiful…and I personally like it much more than the UGA campus!

For those applying to the honors colleges—seems like there is no word limit on the essays—anyone have any thoughts on how long these should be? They say “short essays” but not sure what that means…

Does anyone know how University of Alabama compares with Auburn University, which offers a similar scholarship?

[Office of University Scholarships - Freshman Non-Resident](http://www.auburn.edu/scholarship/scholarship-types/non-resident-freshman-scholarships.html)

What “bump” are u referring to? My daughter just got excepted to the honors program and I’m curious about what people are experiencing.
