New Brunswick SAS: Time to respond

Simply put - I'm an in-state NJ student and was accepted into the Rutgers NB SAS school a while ago. I'm waiting on two more schools' decisions, but at this point given my financial situation and desire to try a few programs I'm almost certain that Rutgers is the ideal school for me. I ought to enroll now, but depending on how my FAFSA turns out there's a chance of me going to one of the schools I'm still awaiting a decision from - if I'm accepted, of course. Both of these schools won't be releasing decisions earlier than March/April, either. So it's certainly cutting things close as far as financial aid/housing paperwork is concerned.

Rutgers New Brunswick is a pretty popular school for NJ students, of course. I could imagine the enrollment filling up quickly, and the last thing I want to happen is for me to be denied my other schools and then finding that Rutgers' enrollment availability has closed!

I was wondering if any applicants/currently enrolled students have a recommended "cutoff" date by which I should accept my offer of enrollment. Is it too dangerous to wait until April? Thanks.

I believe you have until May 1 to make your decision. However the longer you wait - the less likely you will get good housing. The last freshman to reply end and pay their housing deposits end up in the worst dorms.

I am in a similar problem too. When did the kids who got their first preference housing apply by? End of February? End of March? What is considered “early?”

I paid my housing deposit the second half of March last year and got my first choice campus - and it was college ave which is the hardest to get.

Thanks for the input - though I still have not enrolled in Rutgers yet myself, I’m still curious as to whether or not the New Brunswick SAS enrollment availability will be open by April.

If you are accepted you can respond any time up until May 1st. Your acceptance is valid until that date.
