New Freshman roommate for spring 2013

My D is a freshman living in Foster Harper (Northwest area). Her roommate just told her she is transferring next semester. We are from the Northeast and she would love to find someone compatible that is either changing dorms or a new student for Spring semester.

I personally would take that single (if they don’t give you a new roomie) and run with it! I lived in Foster and had a similar situation, and it worked out great. I had the option to go socialize when I wanted to, and I had the option to close my door and get work done when necessary as well. Is she going through recruitment?

Personally I agree with you but she would like to have a roommate that she can be friends with. She has lots of friends on her floor and in the building but everyone always seems to do things with their roommate and she sometimes feels like a 3rd wheel. I know its a 50/50 shot that she will get someone she is compatible with but she is hopeful. Just wish she knew someone else in her situation. And yes - she is rushing in January.

Honestly, if she gets into a chapter, she really won’t hang out with the girls on her floor very much. I went through recruitment and after Bid Day, girls tend to hang out with their pledge classes much much more than anyone else. No matter her outcome, Bid Day changes the dynamic in the NW neighborhood a large amount

True and i hope that is what happens for her. My only worry is that it seems like the chances of getting into a sorority are fairly slim at IU. I guess we will just hope for the best! Thanks for your advice.

Not a problem–I was in the greek system at IU, so if you have any questions/concerns, PM me

Thank you so much :)
