New Haven police may adopt stun guns to control crime (news story)

If Harvard is such a great school (which it is), why do you have to try to take down Yale so much? It only adds to the stereotype of Harvard as a place for arrogant, stuck-up people (which I don't believe, having visited there.)

you have to excuse byerly. he has a severe napoleonic complex.

What are you talking about? I think this is a funny story, as did the Yale Daily News. Chill out.

Nope, Byerly. Difficult issues involving law enforcement and the mentally ill are not funny.

Funny? A man dying after being shot twice with a stun gun?

I, for one, fail to find humor in the death of another human being. I do not mind if I stand alone.

You are a noble person indeed. But your fears are misplaced.

As I read it, the New Haven police hope to reduce "deaths of other human beings" by using stun guns - and not the other way around.

fscottie directed my attention to this thread and I feel obliged to post to say he's right. There's just no reason for this thread.

Hmmm ... well your view differs from that of the Yale Daily News, which had it as the banner front page story today.

fortunately, the yale campus is in an area that is very safe, well monitored, and heavily trafficked. the unfortunate incidents that occur in new haven are not near downtown, and occur mostly in certain areas, just like any other city.

I think the story you just linked is far more relevant than the first story you posted. (It's about a Yale student mugging and has some very good, common-sense advice from the Yale Police Department about safety in and around campus.)
