My friend just got the letter that he has been awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence - the highest honor bestowed upon SUNY students by the University. I think that this award is probably relevant to his transfer application to elite colleges. He will be graduating from a SUNY CC with highest academic honors this spring.

He has already completed his transfer applications to several elite schools (transfer app deadlines were Feb 1 through Mar 15) - (with three more apps to go).

What would be the best method to alert the schools to which he has already applied about this honor?

Scan and email the letter,

Fax the letter, or

Copy and US mail the letter

Should he email each school and ask them or should he just adopt a method and do it for all?

I had the exact same thing happen to me today. I just copied and mailed the letter with an attached description, including my name and application status (EA transfer).

Decisions don't come out for a while yet, so I think he should be ok with snail mail.

i'd recommend that he put together an application supplement package - cover letter w. list of any new honors/awards and the importance of each. if he could include a copy of the letter... but it's not a necessity.

he should also alert the admissions offices that the materials are coming.
