I applied to SUNY New Paltz early action on 10/08, and CommonApp says my application was downloaded on 10/30. But I haven't heard anything back from them and haven't gotten an email or written letter confirmation that they've received my application. Does New Paltz not send out confirmations or should I be concerned?

They don’t send out confirmations as far as I know. You can call and they will tell you verbally whether your application was received and is complete. Better to call the 845 number than the 800 one. With the 800 # you tend to get a recording and have to leave a message vs. getting a live person to talk to. Good luck!

Thank you!

D had the same frustration Shandrydan, she also applied EA and didn’t receive so much as a “thank you for applying to New Paltz” email… so strange, we eventually called and got a verbal confirmation that her application was complete but from other postings on this site last year that verbal confirmation dosen’t mean a whole lot. One student was deferred because her SAT scores had not been received but was told by New Paltz over the phone that her application was complete so I dont have a whole lot of confidence in their admissions office. D other schools sent emails to confirm with a letter in the mail to follow up and these are RD schools not even EA…Not impressed with the school so far but D likes it. Good luck to you!

D is a junior at NP, got in EA. I do remember we heard in mid-december, and we did call ahead of time to confirm everything. Seemed to go very smoothly. They have a fantastic orientation for accepted students. We love the school, D has had so many great opportunities, great teachers for the most part. Let me know if you have any questions about NP.

So D FINALLY got a communication from New Paltz via email which ended with a “looking forward to meeting you on campus” from the Dean of Admissions…so would this be considered a “likely email”?

CollegeBoundNYC - I got that email too… hmm. The New Paltz FB page had a picture of acceptance packages being made, as well… I’m thinking we’ll be hearing back soon :)

You’ll hear a few days before or on the January 1st deadline (that’s when I got my acceptance last year). Good luck!

Shandrydan - have you seen what is happening on the New Paltz Facebook page? I was really surprised the administration didnt remove the thread! I hope people aren’t put off from New Paltz because of those ignorant rantings… :-(

The accepted students open house registration link just showed up for D on the New Paltz log in page…application status still says unavailable but the accepted students link i’m thinking says it all… :-)

Is there a login page for freshman applicants? I didn’t think New Paltz had one.

Yes evnstvn there is one, here is the link

Thanks! I have the same link showing on mine, I guess that is a good sign?

i have the accepted students open house link tooo…:D

Hey, sounds like a positive sign. New Paltz is an awesome school. If anyone has questions feel free to ask me.

I just checked online and there is an accepted students open house link, a couple of days ago when I checked it was not there. I’m on the verge of being excited but I don’t want to be misinformed, does anyone know for sure what it means?

Haven’t received any emails or anything from New Paltz at all. Thanks for any help =)

Last year it meant “you’re in” Acceptance package should follow!

It means you’ve been accepted. The package will arrive shortly after.

Thanks y’all! I got the acceptance letter today, SO EXCITING! I’m going to try to go to the open houses since it’s only about an hour and a half away :D
