My daughter is graduating so it will not affect her at all, but the new president is from NYU, G Gabrielle Starr.
She looks very interesting. My daughter will have one year with her.
Having a competent, receptive administration is one of those things that almost no one looks into much when they’re applying to colleges but that really matters once you’re a student. Pomona’s administration is amazingly receptive compared to any other school I know of (presidential office hours, comment periods on policy changes, students on important committees, an annual trustee-student retreat), and I think Pomona made the best choice among the finalist candidates they brought to campus; I’m looking forward to having Starr as president. (Btw, at most other schools, students wouldn’t even know who the candidates were.)
