NEW PSAT National Merit score projections?

What are the estimated scores to be eligible for PSAT national merit for the October 2015 PSAT?

Since this is the first time the ‘new’ PSAT is being administered, no one knows how things will unfold.

Eh I’d guess around 135-145 to qualify for semifinalist, depending on your state.

Here is an article with the projected new PSAT cutoffs.

Ironic that DC & NJ, w their abyssmal public schools, are in the highest cutoff group. Just like a Tale of Two Cities: the best of HSs and the worst of HSs.

What’s a good projection for the writing portion for somebody with a 620M, 710R&W SAT practice score? Does the PSAT even have a writing portion? I should honestly be worried about it but for some reason I’m not.

@GMTplus7 I always thought that was really sad. DC has one of the lowest graduation rates in the country because of their high percentages of low-income students. This test is supposed to help kids in those situations reach college. They don’t even stand a chance against the students whose parents can afford to have them attend private school. What makes this even worse is the fact that the national achievement scholarship program has completely changed. It now only awards scholarships to underrepresented college graduates (I do not know how that will work) who choose to attend HBCUs.

What will the projected cutoff be for California on the 1520 scale?

@Hamlon Not true. I go to one of the worse public schools in my state (I think we’re ranked 4th worst). I’m pretty confident that I’ll be a National Merit Semi-finalist, or at least very close to it.
