Oh gosh, just when you think you are far away from college admissions angst, along come junior year internship interviews. Son has had 6 in the last week. Yikes. I'm not obsessing or anything, but it does pop into my mind a fair amount and I'm just hoping something works out.....anyone else going through this?

Yes. Other than knowing S has had interviews, and several companies flying him across country for interviews, don't know any more info. I know some companies are very competitive. I think I blocked communication when offered clothing suggestion. Honestly, S doesn't have a blazer or shoes. I know absolutely nothing about the culture in some of these firms. Patient, does your S share info with you? Can you share the kind of firms he's looking into?

My D went through an internship interview for a programming position and said the interview was like taking a highly technical and long oral exam. Apparently they really grilled her on many fine points. They ended up liking her though so it must have gone well.

ucsd,
When will your D hear if she is accepted?

So I'm not the only nervous one :). Bookworm, sent you a pm. I've heard those programming interviews are like that. Son does have the clothes, that part is taken care of. Yes, I assume that all internships are pretty competitive, that is why I am a bit fretful! Hoping that something works out for all......

Interviews lasted ALL day. Very exciting to explore NY on one's own. S got a ticket for Wicked. Froze without his one heavy NS jacket. Will pm tomorrow.

S called late last night. Lots of enthusiasm. This was his first time in NY. The company paid air ticket, taxi, hotel across from Times Square, all meals, etc. He mentioned that 1 place he interviewed for only accepts 8 people for internships. Its amazing to me how much they are willing to spend to interview. I think the s admit rate will be worse than college.
