I appreciate your appreciation! This particular change ought to help stabilize the way the site is displayed. I do plan on adding more emojis to the list, but I want to make sure we don’t have any technical problems with the current system.

The system we are currently using for emoji reactions is no longer supported and contributed to the icons problem we experienced this fall. So we are moving to a new system for adding emojis to posts.
We will continue to use likes, but we’ll be adding a check mark and a light bulb:

We can add other reactions in the future based on your feedback. It doesn’t happen often, but I have heard complaints about people using an emoji dismissively. We won’t be allowing reactions, but I’m more than open to adding emojis that express other sentiments. (I find useful for expressing emotional support, for instance.)
On desktop, you’ll be able to select a reaction other than “like” by hovering over the thumbs up icon. On a mobile device, the other reactions can be selected using a long press on the thumb icon. Clicking or tapping the “like” icon works as a …
