So I’ve been debating on whether I should pick up field hockey as a sport next year where I will be a sophomore. I don’t really need it as an EC because I also do karate but I’m not a very high rank and the chances that I’ll be a black belt by the time college apps start are pretty low. On top of that, I’m in a rigorous academy program which demands a lot academic wise. The problem with our school’s field hockey team is that it’s not very good (it’s the worse in my county I think) but because there isn’t many players, it’s supposedly quite easy to become a varsity player. So should I still consider doing field hockey or no?
AMSE? And you should
Don’t do it because it looks good to colleges…do it because you think it will be fun.
I would say give it a try next year and see if you like it. If you don’t, don’t continue. But otherwise you will have fun exercising and being on a team. Many other people excel doing sports and academics. It forces you to become more efficient in your studying which is a good skill to have.
Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll definitely try next year!
