My son accepted his offer of admission, offer for LSA Honors, and paid the tuition deposit back in March. According to the newsletter that we received today, once the tuition deposit has been paid, the student is supposed to receive information about New Student Orientation in his/her U-M email. Son says he hasn’t received anything about orientation in his e-mail. I’m curious if others are in this same boat. We want to schedule orientation soon as possible because we’re planning around vacation (like probably just about everyone else :)).
I would be interested in the timeline others are experiencing with the LSA Honors College acceptance progression.
I know they have the one last honors decision to make on the most recent set of acceptances. Guessing it is possible they are waiting to put everyone on the same playing field before moving forward with New Student Orientation.
Curious, did your son receive a merit scholarship for LSA? Not sure if LSA Merit has also gone out in waves like acceptances and honors or if it’s an event all LSA accepted students are waiting on this week.
Ok so LSA Scholarships have started to go out in batches.
Some today and some tomorrow and likely a third set into next week. So if you applied to LSA for a scholarship and you haven’t heard already then nows the time.
Also Honors notifications by the 23rd
Best of Luck
@BigRoundDad, would you share the LSA honors orientation dates when you get them? Specifically wondering if there’s an Honors session starting June 19th.
My son received his LSA orientation email yesterday (4/17) around 4:30pm. He waited til the last minute to apply to Honors, so he won’t have an answer about that til the 23rd (I assume the answer will be no, since he waited so long to apply). I’d love to sign up for our LSA sessions now, but I don’t know which will include Honors.
Not sure if this is helpful but lists orientation dates including honors. You can always call and ask also.

Thank you @Knowsstuff! They must have just posted that.
@mckate. No problem. Pro Tip : try to do orientation early. They sell out quickly. Just easier getting the classes you need etc.
As a parent there was this great sense of pride of where my kid was going to school and seeing and meeting other families sending their kids there. Then this slight nervousness that your leaving without your child. ?.
Then you realize your an empty nester and that’s not so bad after all. ??.
Is the class registration process tied to the orientation??
Yes
My son’s classmates who are also going to Michigan want to go to orientation together. But I’m only willing to wait so long before registering, since I’d like to have a choice of accommodations. And I’d like to have it taken care of by late June so I can enjoy my summer!
Does anyone know if the list of dates gets updated to indicate which are sold out, or do you only find out when you try to register?
@mckate on another thread (forgot which one), someone stated they just added more dates. I would recheck the site or call /email tomorrow. If his friends can’t get on the same page soon, I wouldn’t wait. Maybe an email to the parents are in order. What you might find out quickly is that everyone’s summer plans are all over the place.
