New tentative dorm prices are up

And boy, it's really expensive! But my parents insist that I stay the second year in dorms, so I chose the mini suites in the units.

Your parents are fools. Go greek or find some friends and get a house. Better yet BUY one and resell it when you are done with college.

Get an apartment with someone. That's probably your best option.

I wouldn't really recommend going Greek, unless you want your GPA to suck. Plus many frats are just full of nerds who try too hard to be "cool." Frat parties aren't as good as others.

Originally I wanted to join the co-ops, but that's too late now. If I do end up being in the dorms, I'm going to be more involved than I am this year via the resources and opportunities to get my money's worth.

Nah, that's not true. Dorms will tend to waste more of your time IMO with all the students who don't care about studying partying and playing music loudly.

You are best off specializing and doing something with a professor IMO. Students are pretty unreliable at Berkeley.

I think that's plenty fine, unlimitedx. And that

is quite ironic. The mini suites tend to be quiter than the other buildings for whatever reason, probably their set-up. You'll probably be fine.
