New Transfer

Hi everyone!

I'm going to a be a junior in the fall and was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about Penn or had any advice as far as academics/social scenes are concerned (e.g.: courseloads in SAS, the best/worst dorms, living off campus, meal plans, cliques). Anything at all would be most appreciated.

Thank you :)

Surely someone has something to say. I'm really desperate for info...

Agreed, anyone have any insight?

wayward, where do you think you're going to apply for housing, I can't figure out where to go.

I'm guessing you either transferred from USC or from a condom factory. As a transfer I'd try to get into a really social dorm, like Hill or one of the three college houses that make up the quad. If you want a more intimate experience, try Kings Court.

Living off campus is great, but definitely shouldn't be done your first year here.

And welcome to Penn!

Nah, transferred from a dildo factory. Close though! Is it hard to get a single room? Also, are the core/general education classes good? And meal plans?

Do you think getting into one of the social dorms would be a good social outlet for a sophomore transfer though because the majority of the people there are freshman?
Also should I go for a roommate, because would I be put with another transfer or just a random upper classmate?

If you know you're getting put with another transfer, then that would be great. You two will be in the same boat. A random upper classmate might already be well-rooted in his ways and not nearly as interested in exploring new things with you. Or interested in you, period.

In general, the large lecture type classes that make up a good deal of the curriculum ones are entirely dependent on the professor and how good he/she is with large lectures. I've had some great large class lecturers like Goldstein (PSCI), McDougall (HIST/INTR) Goldin (EALC), Haselberger (ARTH), Ethier (ECON), Granieri (HIST)
