hey guys! I am NY resident applying UCLA RD. what do u think my chances are? can applying from NY hurt me?

I didnt include all the pointless clubs i joined in which I did not have a major position...

I wrote my essay about moving from India to America at the age of 14 and the other essay was based on my interest in neurological research...

Uhhh I'm pretty sure you're a match. My GPA is the same as yours but my SAT is a lot lower than yours and my EC's aren't as good. And I'm considered a reach.

Yes, I'm being serious (or I would have put JK afterwards). You're OOS, so getting into a UC is a LOT harder than if you were in-state. Many in-state applicants have at least one 800 and a higher GPA than you, so it's only makes it that much harder to get in. Try checking the stats of people who got into UCLA, and see where you stand.

Do we even know what his UC GPA is? If he took 7 APs junior year, then obviously not all of them are going to count, so if 4.05 is his weighted GPA from HS, then that's not a good sign. If it's his UC GPA, then, heck, a lot of people get in with that and he'd be a match (the average UC GPA is a 4.14 for UCLA)

If you've only had 2 B+s (and if they were only in sophomore and junior year), and you've got at least 4 APs, then your UC GPA is in the neighborhood of a 4.2 or 4.3. That is definitely a match for OOS.

Anyways, disregarding his UC GPA, he is OOS, not instate. Admissions for him are typically more difficult, and by not having strong SAT II scores, who knows.

OR, I may just be crazy and you'll get in no problem at all, but what are CC Chance threads without a few of us. :)

That's a weighted high school GPA. His UC GPA seems to be higher. With an SAT that's almost a full SD above the mean, and SAT IIs that are clearly above the mean, he's a match.

Castel, OOS is harder, but it's not THAT MUCH harder.

I was basing it off the information he gave in his original post. But in the additional posts, he said he only had 2 B+s and he's taken 7 APs in Sophomore/Junior year. With THAT information, his UC GPA should be around 4.24.

You calculate UC GPA by disregarding your PE/Health classes. You have a max of 8 semesters of weighted classes (Honors and APs).
