kay thanks !!

Yup, sps has a huge!!! campus…I have loved the campus both times when I went to the revisit and interviews. I will say that they have probably the best campus out of all the boarding schools, because their facilities are great, and their food. I think you should list your ec’s if you honestly want people to chance, but please remember, chancing is not always accurate…Also, you should probably apply to a few more schools including backup’s. I thought I was crazy and I only applied to andover, exeter, and sps. It’s good to always have a backup incase you don’t get into either.

Thanks so much magusalex ! Great help and you definitely understand me.

Hey there,
I cannot say enough times that you are going to want to look at schools that are not so selective. Kids here sometimes think that only the famous schools are really good, but that is not true. You may not know about Berkshire, Episcopal, Brooks, or Millbrook, but all of them have many students who were in the top five of their classes at home. There are also lots of schools with beautiful buildings, good financial aid, and good food, so look beyond the ones always mentioned here. If you really, really, want to go to boarding school, do not limit yourself to Andover and sps. Your chances of getting in are not good because No Ones chances of getting in are good, because thats what a 15% acceptance rate means…85% will fail. Sure, some kids win the odds, but so many are stuck at home when they wouldve gotten in to other schools and been really happy. Apply to schools with an acceptance rate of 35% or more.

I read where people in other threads were a little snippy with you because of your love of CApS and your informal style. Thats one thing about boarding schools…many of them are kind of stuffy. (I teach at one. A nice place, but stuffy.] If you move forward on applying, use your best grammar and formal punctuation. Even here.

Good luck to you!
p.s. Sorry for all the missing apostrophes in my post. Broken keyboard!

+1 on this.

Have you taken the SSAT yet? If so, what are your scores? And what are your extracurriculars? I agree with everyone on the applying-to-more-than-just-the-top-3 thing. I applied to the top 3 and was lucky enough to get into Andover and SPS and waitlisted at Exeter. As you can see by my profile, I chose Andover  I scored in the 98th percentile on my SSAT and got straight A’s in middle school, though I wasn’t top of my class I don’t think. For sports, I ride horses (not offered at Andover) and run cross-country. I used to play volleyball but dropped that and am going to do crew instead. For ec’s, I have drama and singing and photography, sort of. Not sure if this will help, but I don’t feel like I have enough experience to chance you…

Jeweledhorses I did the same but kind of got the opposite results haha. I applied to exeter, andover, and st. paul’s and got into exeter and st. paul’s but waitlisted at andover…

Thanks you guys , all the information was REALLY helpful , definitely going to use the advice :)

Albio ,I definitely get what your saying , im actually also applying to suffield , blair , and willisto north Hampton . So I honestly do get it , and boarding school is my only option for highschool seeing how my mother is joining the navy and my father is handling alot of stuff so im definitely going to have my safety schools

Good luck then!

well I got a 2373 on the ssats and got rejected/waitlisted at 6 top schools. i also have A’s and have 22 college credits in Calculus, Chemistry, and Computer Science and I’m in eighth grade. Based on my experience, I would say great academics do not ensure acceptance.

Thanks jeweled horses , you’ve helped me ouy EXTREMELY . I havent taken the ssat yet , im in sevenrh so I’ll be applying next fall. Im extremely nervous but I know the process should go by smoothly with the help of this site. Im studying now for the ssat and hopeful get a high score.

Wow thats impressive schakrab . I agree with you on the academic parts, I guess its 50/50 … Personality and grades … Hopefullu im the right fit for all the schools I apply to

Ok, schakrab, I am sorry about what happened and I realize that you are trying to make sure that other applicants realize what can happen in the application process, but sometimes your posts can be a little…depressing and discouraging.

I’m sorry if i come across like that. I’m not trying to be discouraging. My experience may not be true for other people, but it also might be for others. Trust me, you would feel a little bit depressed and discouraged too if you got rejected/waitlisted by six schools.
