Newhouse & Whitman Dual Major Freshman Courses HELP!

So I'm in the dual major program for Newhouse and Whitman coming into my freshman year and I'm not exactly sure what courses to pick. I was told you need a minimum of 12 credits per semester, but that most people do 15-16. I am automatically required to be enrolled in COM 101 (1 cred), COM 107 (3 creds), MAT 183 (3 creds), SOM 122 (3 creds). I also picked one of the required writing courses WRT 105 (3 creds). So now I have 3 credits, and I'm on to picking electives. It gives you 4 choices for sciences and 8 for art electives. I filled out all my preferences of courses and I registered for 16 credits. I'm wondering if that'll be enough, or too many, or if I did something completely wrong. Hopefully, someone who is a freshman this year or someone was in the same position as me in the past years. I'm looking for a quick explanation on what to sign up for and how many credits/semester.

Thanks,

16 is just fine, it’s about average.

I just finished up my freshman year. COM 101 is a drag but easy, COM 107 is very challenging/time consuming but it’s rewarding and a very fun class (if you like to video edit), MAT 183 is a joke if you were decent in Math in HS, SOM 122 is slightly annoying because you have to write a 40-page paper in a group. WRT 105 is a bit of writing (obviously), but it isn’t tough. I tested out of it with AP credits, but my roommate took it.

Take an easy science or an art elective you’re actually interested in and you should have a balanced first semester workload. Good luck!
