News from USC Thornton School of Music

<p>The USC Thornton School of Music will celebrate 130 years in 2014. This month the school has introduced a new website. It features more information, photos of faculty, alumni news and brighter colors.</p>

<p>Michael Lee has won first prize at the NACUSA's Young Composer Competition for 2013. This was the 35th NACUSA competition. </p>

<p>Vimbayi Kaziboni, recent alumnus, is studying in Uzbekistan for a year on a Fulbright Scholarship.</p>

<p>Sophomore classical pianist, Evan Pensis, won the grand prize at the International Siegfried Weishaupt piano competition 2013 in Baden-Wurttemburg, Germany. He was also honored with the audience award. Pensis is a student of Daniel Pollack.</p>

<p>Percussion student, Ethan Ahmad, was awarded the 2013 Ziljian Scholarship. This scholarship includes a large monetary award and travel.</p>

<p>In the spring selected students from the Popular Music major performed on the Tonight Show.</p>

<p>Students recently performed at the Emmy Awards with Sir Elton John. A short feature on their preparation for the show was shown on Good Morning America.</p>
