<p>The USC Thornton School of Music will add another new faculty member. Dean Cutietta announced Peter Weber will be "Scholar in Residence" as of fall 2013. Peter Webster comes to SC from Northwestern.</p>
<p>Webster is a music education and music technology specialist. He is the author of "Measures of Creative thinking in Music" and co-author of "DVD Experiencing Music Technology." He has also contributed numerous articles on music cogniton and music technology as well as serving on the editorial boards of four journals in the field.</p>
<p>Other recent additions to the Thornton faculty are jazz trumpeter, Ambrose Akinmusire and Glenn Dicterow, NY Philharmonic Concertmaster. Mr. Dicterow will also join the faculty in 2013.</p>
<p>Also added to the USC Thornton School of Music faculty will be Karen Dreyfus. She has been on the strings faculty (violin) at the Manhattan School of Music. She and Glenn Dicterow will join the Thornton faculty in fall of 2013.</p>

<p>A new addition to the faculty is Che-Yen Chen (Brian Chen) who will teach the viola. He won first prize at the William Primrose Viola Competition. He is a founding member of the Formosa Quartet. Chen studied at the Curtis Institute with Michael Tree and Karen Tuttle and later earned his Master’s degree at Julliard where he studied with Paul Neubauer. Chen has also been a member of the Avalon String Quartet.</p>
<p>The strings department at the Thornton School of Music is directed by Midori Goto. Midori holds the Jascha Heifetz Chair of Violin. She was named in 2012 a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a Distinguished Professor at USC.</p>
<p>Glenn Dicterow will hold the Robert Mann Chair of Violin and Chamber Music.</p>

<p>Daniel Carlin has accepted the position as the new director of the SCMPTV program at the USC Thornton School of Music. Mr. Carlin is an Emmy winning music editor, music director and was the long time CEO of Segue Music. He was the former chair of film scoring at the Berklee College of Music.</p>
