University of California, Los Angeles
Los Angeles, Calif.
UCLA this past year received a record 47,307 applications; 12,221 got in. Location, moderate cost for California residents and lots of course choices are big selling points, says Vu Tran, director of undergraduate admissions. The College of Letters and Sciences represents about 80 percent of undergrad programs, with the rest in the schools of engineering and applied science, arts and architecture, and theater, film and TV. The most popular major is biology or biology-related majors like biochemistry, followed by psychology and political science. Because UCLA is a public university, most students are from California, but 10 percent of this fall's freshmen are from out of state and 3 percent are from abroad. Major building projects include theaters, studios, the California Nanosystems Institute and enough dorm space so that students can live on campus all four years.

uh...

go us!!!

we have that bricky ivy league look to all the buildings too. :p now...we just need some actual ivy growing on them...

there is a little bit of ivy growing near the brick wall of the stair case leading up to royce :)

There's also ivy growing on the north side of Ackerman Union.

I think people tend to forget that being an Ivy league school is just a matter of being in the correct sports conference.

yea, nothing more

the ivy league is so 19th century

the ivy league isn't even good in sports any more. UCLA's the top research and top athletic school. We're the model school now. Bye-bye Harvard

I think the fact that we recieve more applications than any other school in the country makes us the most desirable and consequently the best.

the BEST...suck it, HYPS!!

I hate those Ugly Harvard Nerds. We're not only smart but we look good doing it
