http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/714008-why-you-should-major-economics.html

I watched GG too!
Makes me kind of regret not living in NY anymore. But then again I was Queens -_-
I’m def applying I NYU/Columbia for grad school though hehe.

i didn’t find this funny because they were playing around with my bike

Is it wrong to love Gossip Girl?

I got my first essay back for my English 2 class and it disheartened me… I got a B. BBBBSSSS

**** yeah I’m done with finals today.

Sephorazn18,
Honestly, nothing is more disheartening than a B. I hope to never feel your pain. :]

can’t believe you used to live in NY. why’d you move to CA? NY is awesome, even though the lifestyle there is super $$$$.

^ I’m originally from LA.
The school / location is what sucked
The school was like living at a community college (mostly commuter) that happened to be Catholic. Super strict on visitors, rules etc.
It was also filled with a bunch of slackers, hoodrats, and guidos.
It was in Jamaica, Queens (where 50 Cent lived lulz) and was an hour away by subway from Manhattan. Muggings and shootings weren’t uncommon.
I only went cuz of a full ride. :(

I guess it’s like the equivalent of coming from Manhattan to California…except you’re going to UCR if it were in a more ghetto area.

It’s St. John’s University if you guys were wondering. A guy posted a thread about it a month or two ago claiming it “was the biggest mistake of his life”. LOL.

/end rant. I still love Manhattan though.

Hey homies. I am applying in the falll…oh hellz yes. Very excited.

What kind of volunteer work are you guys putting in? I am racking up some hours at the senior center…and some other stuff…Just wondering what you guys are doing for that…and ec’s and such.

I am like an older transfer student…24…super old. I got like 2 old f’s on the transcripts but now I have a 4.0 (and 2 w’s). I am hoping that wont be a biggggggggg deal. What do you guys think?

I am just a little worry wart! Happy finals week…everybody.

Ha, SMC finals are the week of June 8th :/

From what I’ve seen, ECs don’t carry as much weight as they did in high school. I think UC’s priority is coursework (IGETC and pre-req prep) and GPA, then essays. ECs play more of a role in borderline applicants and more impacted majors. And if you have experience in the major/career you want to pursue, you’ll be better equipped with to write a good essay for the first prompt.

How old are those Fs? You might be eligible for academic renewal if they’re x number of years old depending on the school. And did you retake those classes you failed in? But the upward trend will definitely help you, especially if you can convey this growth in your personal statement. What’s your major by the way?

I turned 18 in January this year. The majority of my friends are 20 and some are 23/24. The age disparity isn’t as noticeable in college :)

@Rwsako-

I can’t wait to include this on my app. I did AmeriCorps after high school for a year, and won a national community service award!

That’s my big “WOW” on my app. Other stuff is being in Phi Theta Kappa and starting Young Democrats at SD City College (President, too).
