Niagara University vs. CUNY Baruch College vs. SUNY New Paltz

I've been accepted to these 3 schools but I can't decide which of these three is the "best" school for a business student. I know quality wise they are all good but I can't figure out which would pop the most to an employer on a resume, Baruch is well know but i'm not sure if that's due to prestige or just because it's in New York City and it gets a lot of applicants because it's primarily a business school. SUNY New Paltz seems to be above average but nothing special quality wise for business, but SUNY is a pretty well known name in NY. Then Niagara University seems to be the least notable of the 3 but has a large business focus and seems to have a high quality of education. If I had to guess, Baruch = Niagara > New Paltz for an employer looking at a resume but I would love some input on the 3.

Does anyone have an idea?

I can tell you that Niagara University is known world wide. They are a Catholic/Vincentian university and as such they have far reaching alumni as well as recognition of being a fine university. My daughter attends Niagara University and she absolutely loves it there. Its size is great if you really want to connect with your professors and the college community. I know nothing about Baruch and as such cannot comment on that. You will not be disappointed in your education at Niagara University.

hm, fredsparsky is a proud parent but hardly objective.
Baruch is very well known in NYC and its honors/scholars programs are excellent if you intend to work in the business world. However it’s not much of a “college experience”, even if they recently got a new dorm.
New Paltz has more atmosphere and is closer to a real “college experience” but it’s true it’s not as good for business. However it’s well-known and it’s fairly easy to find summer internships in the city from there (contact their career services and try to get information/stats.)
Ultimately, the employer won’t care so much about the name on your degree. What will matter most is 1° GPA (below 3.0 you’re cooked, above 3.5 you’re going to be fine) 2° classes taken and 3° most importantly, internships and other experiences. So go where it seems you’d “fit” the best and make each semester count.

Hello,

I am currently Baruch student. I think out of your three options that Baruch is your best choice for business school. It is the 4th best public school in the north. Its zicklin school of business is ranked with some of the largest business schools in the country.

Personally as a student at Baruch I know lots of students who leave Baruch with offers from firms such as JP Morgan and Balckrock.

As far as campus life goes at baruch has over 170 clubs to offer. Like any college campus life is what you make of it.

I spent a semester at New Paltz a million years ago and loved the town. And certainly “SUNY” is well known.
