DD received a very nice letter today from the director of admissions at USC. It said that they would notify finaid and housing that she had chosen not to enroll there this year. However, they will keep her acceptance on file for one year should she decide she wants to enroll at USC within that time. The letter wished her well. USC is the ONLY school that has taken the time to send her any kind of acknowledgement that they received her letter declining their offer of admission. All along I've said that this school is a class act, with very good personal attention. I only hope the school she ultimately chose shows the same level of caring.

I haven't been keeping up with the boards. so, where did D decide to go?

She decided to go to Santa Clara University in CA. There will always be a piece of me that wonders whether USC might have been the better choice.

We too have been incredibly impressed with the level of "touch" that USC has shown throughout the process. Since our D told them she was coming she has received several letters from admissions, one with a USC version of a Rubik's cube talking about their research opportunities for undergrads another had a USC luggage tag and talked about travel abroad. In addition she has been contacted by her admissions rep via email and by the head of the Capstone Scholars program among others. Very impressive for a "big state school." They are obviously working hard to change how they are perceived and are succeeding!

Thumper, I talked to the mother of D's friend who is also headed to Santa Clara and I will send her contact info in a PM as soon as things settle here....graduation is next week and things are a bit hectic with lots of OOS family about to descend on us.
