Nicests college Dorms and food !!

Wisconsin has terrible food and small dorms (though the new ones that are almost done are supposed to be enormous) so if thats all you care about don't come here. But everything else, and I mean everything, is phenomonal. Except for the overwhelming gay presence, that's pretty annoying.

Tufts has excellent food that's rivalled only by a handful of institutions (cornell etc).

DePaul (Chicago) -- Very nice dorms for an urban campus...all are new or recently renovated. Living in one of the gorgeous brownstones that surround the Lincoln Park campus would be a great option after the dorms.

My S had an ocean view from his freshman dorm room at University of San Diego! It was a room(not large) for three guys with its own bath. Gorgeous campus and great food.

I've only had food at UMiami, UConn, and Yale. I personally though it was great at all three, especially UConn.

^^I'll second Tufts. Having not been a student, I believe I can be impartial and say that Tufts has great food and dorms. The food is amazing and the variety it sweet. Also, when I visited, I had to stay in a triple on the ground, and that dorm room was huge considering three people stayed in it and well maintained. Better than many dorm rooms I have been in. The individual community bathrooms vs one huge community bathroom was a bonus as well.

I spent the summer at Wisconsin and can attest to the fact that it has horrible food. I made an effort to try new things the first week and it was a horrible idea. The thought of "Fire and Ice" salad still makes me sick to my stomach even if it does have a cool name. Also, it's hard to find anything with under 20 grams of fat in that cafeteria (although it is nice that they have the nutrition information for most entrees prominently displayed). I think the worst thing about the food though was the repetion. The same food would rotate around the cafeteria in different locations to make it look like different food but it was really just leftovers. Three day-old pudding doesn't taste good even if it's not in the same spot.

UW-Madison does have good ice cream though. Made fresh on campus and very very delicious:)

NASTY food: Brown, URI, yale
decent: uconn, connecticut college, mt holyoke, union, cornell

WashU was really good, and then there's some big 10's which give you a really big variety.

DePaul! Just look at the UCC (University Center of Chicago)... It's basically a 4 star hotel. :)

Are you a current student at DePaul? UCC is sweet...and that's just at the Loop Campus. How about all those nice dorms at the Lincoln Park campus?

Yes, I'm a current student beginning my grad school search. Ironically, I'm a commuter! But I've seen every dorm on campus... Did you hear about the brand new dorms that are currently being built in LP? On Fullerton between Ashland and Sheffield.

Wow, more brand new housing? We didn't notice, but that's good to hear since my son was accepted EA. Speaking of commuters, I think that's why DePaul doesn't get more attention. It has that reputation. Do the residential kids find that to be a problem? BTW, besides really nice dorms, the campus facilities are also amazing...huge new athletic center, new student union...very impressive overall.

Residents are the minority. Only 10% of students live on campus. It's a commuter school at heart. Besides the really nice dorms we have a jaw-dropping Student Center, Athletic Center, brand new Biology building... A new Chemistry building is in the works. 2 other dorms are scheduled fo demolition soon... The facilities are really nice. That's only the LP campus... The Loop campus is in a league of its own...

90% can't be driving in everyday, are they? I can't imagine why there aren't more students living together in those beautiful brownstones in the LP neighborhood!

from my trips.... Tufts has by far the best food (and visitors eat free or so I was told by my tour people who ate lunch with me)

Despite reports... I loved Columbia food

Olin. Both food and dorms.
we rank #2 on the princeton review in both section. (pointless to some, worth something to others).

Our food is awsome. Theres not one thing that ive really not liked.
Dorms are also amazing. (could be the whole they are new thing... )

And the whole you only share a bathroom with your roommate thing.

it depends on what residential college you are at at yale to get bad food. Berkeley's food is really good, and the menu was designed by alice waters.

DePaul is close to excellent public transit. Many commute from home or from cheaper areas outside LP.
