Nigerians of Class of 2008, Where are you applying?

I am Oron and immigrated to the US at the age of 6. I just wanted to get in touch with some fellow Nigerians and see where ya'll are applying. As for me...
University of Chicago
Columbia University
Yale University
Princeton University
Boston College
Villanova University
Emory University
American University
University of Georgia (in state)
Other Africans are welcome to post!!

That's really not funny.

ncody0220, that kind of post is disgusting, disrespectful, and completely atrocious...Seriously, do not stoop that low. I did not laugh at that at all.

koolmaria139, I think being an international student, even though you've immigrated to America, would be a hook for you, but it's otherwise impossible for us to tell if you can get into those schools if you don't tell us things like your GPA, standardized test scores, what your passions and interests are, etc.

So if i'm african i can't post here?

adf8, I agree, that comment is definitely not funny...

ONIlawlewt, I am not asking for my chances (I don't believe in chance threads) I am simply asking where ya'll are applying. I listed wherr I was applying as well. Sorry if you misunderstood me

radronOmega, lol, um I'm African too---Nigeria is part of Africa--of course you can post here. I even said at the end that all Africans are welcome and so are African-Americans!!

Um so any one want to state were they are applying? bump...

i'm nigerian. not by birth though. i live in ga as well. probably some top schools. i like emory, duke, boston univeristy, and virginia.

Cool, GAclassof2008 have you visited Emory yet? If so, what did you think? I plan on visiting this summer with my sis. What do you mean you're Nigerian, not by birth. You're parents were born in Nigeria, but you were born in the US? Anyone else want to post where he or she intends to apply? Like I said all black people or URM's (Nigerian or not) are welcome!!!

hello I'm also Nigerian but I was born in England and lived there for 10 years.
I'm thinking about applying to Emory, Boston U, Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, Brown, U Michigan, Wash U, and maybe U Mich and then UF as a safety.
We all seem to be applying to the same places...how interesting. Well I wish you all the best of luck!

Yeah floridastudent, Duke, Emory, and Boston U seem to be the most popular, anyone else? BUMP.....

How? I immigrated at the age of 12. Would it be a "hook" for me too?

philosopher I think the post that you quoted was a mistake.. OniLawlewt thought I was asking for my "chances" but I was just asking where everyone was applying. However I don't think immigrating to the US is a hook like the OP said...

I understand that koolmaria, but how would OniLawlewt's statement on hooks change in either context?

Anyway, aren't hooks supposed to be desirable qualities, such as URM Status etc?

Lol..Nigerians of Class of 2008--that's fairly specific, isn't it?

^^ well there are so many of us ;)

Philosopher, yeah that is what a hook is. I guess being black (regardless of where you were one is born born) is a strong "hook" because of the "diversity" factor that colleges are looking for.

Um lol sorry, I guess my title was too specific.. any class (2009, whatever) can state where they are applying! And Any African or African American can post as well. I thought they were more Nigerians o CC... I just thought that since we all have something in common we can help each other specifically during the college process!! Has anyone started their college essays, yet? I started mine (coming up with ideas, drafting..nothing serious) for University of Chicago and Georgetown on Monday.
