Nightlife

Hey guys, I'm a undergrad visiting MSU this Saturday. Was wondering if you guys can shed light on what are the popular bars/clubs among undergrads to checkout. Thanks!

If you’re younger than 21, you won’t really have any options. So far as I’m aware, literally every single bar or club in East Lansing has restrictions in place to ensure that only those who are old enough to drink alcohol can get in. If you’re of age, then you should know that virtually all of the popular places can be found along either Grand River Avenue or Albert, between Collingwood and Abbott roads. Rick’s and Harper’s are always busy.

Depends on your age. Ad would you be going by yourself?
If you are 21, you really don’t want to be that guy who comes to the bar alone. Seriously, I know guys that do that and they just look awkward at the bar. Really Ricks and Harpers are the two best bars for Friday and Saturday nights. Ricks is more of the dancing place, but looks like crap. Harpers has Club Rush attached which I have actually never gone despite going to Harpers probably three times a month at least. It is really just between MAC and Abbot that has the bars. Go any East of MAC and no bars. You got the Riv at Albert and MAC, then Harpers, Landshark, PTs and Ricks all on Abbott Rd. There will be a cover on the weekends, so don’t complain about that!

But if you aren’t 21 then you can’t go to any bars!!! No 18+ on the weekends! There are frats to go to, but I hate frats and haven’t gone to one since the fall of my Freshmen yr (in 2009)

I don’t know why people are suggesting Ricks, that place is absolutely disgusting. Yeah it is a dancing place but only if you want to be creeped on by dudes and watch people not-so-secretly get it on. There are other, less gross places to go dance at. Personally I really like PT’s or Dublin.
